So, the journey began as far back as junior high. I won’t tell you how long ago that was for me but let’s just say I’ve been around the block a time or two!
When I was pregnant with my first child, I became very sick and gained an enormous amount of weight only to lose maybe 40lbs of it afterwards. Five years later, after the birth of my second child, the diet roller coaster came a living part of my life.
I gave up eating sweets for one year and lost 75 lbs. I remember walking into a boutique and said if I can wear a size 5, I will buy as much as my credit card would allow me. And so, I did!
Another memory of that time was walking in a mall and seeing a reflection of a woman in a mirror and thinking, if I could have a body like anyone that’s the one I want! As I neared the mirror my heart sunk, that woman was me! I kept that weight off for a few years, maybe battling 10 lbs or so but nothing significant. In my early 30’s I decided I was seriously fat again and went on Nutri System. I lost an incredible amount of weight and got down to a size 2. That weight stayed off for a while and soon enough, I was back to fighting the never ending extra 10-20-30-40 plus lbs.
I was on every diet that hit the market: weight watchers, Jenny Craig, LA weight loss, Fen Fen, Eat right for your blood type, The Zone diet and many more. I was constantly yo-yoing. There were times I would find myself running 5 miles a day, then teaching 3-4 aerobic classes a day and I still battled the bulge.
When I arrived at the ripe age of 45, it began to be more of a challenge. What was it? Thyroid, hormones, kids, stress or a combination of them all?
I stopped trying the latest and greatest weight loss programs and did a lot of fasting and cleansing which was very helpful, but I never truly unlocked what was happening with my body. I got very busy with the day to day challenges of starting a new business and helping my son get through high school and college. I knew I was gaining weight but I lost the motivation or will power to do anything about it.
In my Natural Health Practice, I work with many woman and men who want to regain their health. Many suffer from diabetes, heart conditions and other diseases and they desperately want to lose weight, get off their medications, and reclaim their life back. They are initially able to lose some weight and then, bam!, their body stops losing……what the hell?
During one of my last advance classes at the Loomis Institute I met a woman named Donna and we became fast friends. Donna lived in Virginia and had been practicing for about 4 or 5 years. I was newly out of school and asked her if I could go visit and train with her. She agreed and we spent 3 wonderful days together working in her practice. During lunch one day Donna mentioned that she had taken some classes on a new weight program that had changed the lives of so many men and women and she encouraged me to do some research on the company. Normally, I would’ve dived right in and done all the research possible, but because I was overwhelmed with the past 4 years of school, I didn’t have it in me to take one more class…. my mind had already blown up.
In early April, I woke one morning thinking of the conversation Donna and I had many years ago. Ta da! I came to life…. I called the company to get all the information possible and dove right in. Research lead me to other practitioners who were helping their patients/clients lose weight and truly keep it off.
The best way to know how a program will work for others is to do your own trial so for the next 6 weeks I, along with 3 of my besties, are on the journey of changing our body through losing non-essential fat and balancing our hormones.
I will be posting on Facebook and on this Blog. Please follow our story and if at any time you personally want to join in, just shoot me an email Brenda@authentichealthsc.com or give me a call at 864-309-0392.
